Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018!
With 2018 now in full swing, we’re busy putting plans in place for our next fundraising campaign. There will be lots of opportunities for you to get involved, with every penny raised going towards tackling social isolation and loneliness throughout Scotland.
We’ll be launching our new look campaign soon, so keep following us on Twitter @CGFundraising and Facebook @CarrGomm for details on how to get involved.
Before bidding farewell to 2017 completely, we wanted to bring you some highlights from the Christmas lunch, hosted at Sandy’s Community Centre in Craigmillar, Edinburgh.
On 20 December, staff from Sandy’s, along with three local senior school pupils, helped to prepare and cook a delicious, free Christmas lunch for those in the community aged over 50. The event was a huge success bringing people together to chat, laugh and build new friendships.
Everyone felt that it was a fabulous afternoon, with feedback ranging from: “best night ever”, “what a family should feel like” to “really friendly, great kids”.
The meal also provided a chance to showcase some of the fabulous produce grown right on Craigmillar’s doorstep; potatoes and kale from Freshstart and salad, parsley, rosemary and Brussels sprouts grown by the team at Sandy’s – all topped off with donations from the Thistle Foundation.
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the lunch possible including Sandy’s Community Centre, The Thistle Foundation, Edinburgh and Lothians Greenspace Trust.
2017 was a great year for Carr Gomm and we move into 2018 with excitement as to everything that is yet to be achieved. We look forward to you joining us on this journey!
