Putting the 'community' into growing!

Back in September we told you about Craigmillar Community Grows, one of our fabulous community development projects which will benefit from your CG 100 donations.

You might think that with winter in full swing a project that focuses on growing and gardening might have gone into hibernation – but nothing could be further from the truth!  Karin, our Community Project Worker has been hard at work with a variety of community groups in and around Craigmillar.

At Castleview Primary School she has been working with Primary 1 children and teachers helping to clear and plant raised beds as well as developing their Eco Garden.

We’ve been delighted by donations of plants from B&Q and trees from the Woodland Trust which have been planted at the Thistle Foundation’s garden with support from Craigmillar Community Grows.

Christmas is always a busy time for the project supporting lots of community fun including a wreath making workshop at Craigmillar Library on Tuesday 19th December and a delicious Christmas lunch for over 50s on offer on Wednesday 20th at Sandy’s community Centre. Both events are free to attend and are a  great way of meeting people and making friends over the Christmas period.

If wreath making sounds like your Christmas calling get in touch with Karin on 07824 838364.  If you’d like to celebrate with other over 50s with a fabulous festive lunch call Dani on 07909 257415 to book your place.

Craigmillar Community Grows, like all our community development projects, is funded through grants and donations.  Help us raise £5,000 by Christmas to reach our £50,000 total and help our community development projects to support more people in 2018.

Can we do it – yes we can!
